Terms of service
Draft, 6 November 2026
This is a draft. It hasn’t been checked by a lawyer yet. The highlighted parts need confirming before Mizen starts taking payments.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [the legal name of the person or company that runs Mizen, and its address] (“Mizen”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, you agree to them.
Mizen is for businesses. By signing up, you confirm you’re using it for a business, such as a pub, café, restaurant or catering company.
Your account
- Give us accurate details, and keep your password to yourself.
- You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
- There’s one free trial per account.
Free trial and payment
- New accounts get a 7-day free trial. You enter your card when you sign up, and you’re first charged on day 8 unless you cancel before then.
- Mizen costs £14.99 a month or £150 a year [say whether prices include VAT]. You pay in advance, and your plan renews automatically until you cancel.
- Payments are taken by Stripe.
- If a payment fails, we’ll let you know. If it still hasn’t gone through after [14 days], we may pause your account until it does.
- If we change our prices, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the change affects you.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from Account in Mizen. [You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. We don’t refund part-months or part-years.]
Your content
Your recipes, prices and everything else you put into Mizen belong to you. You let us store and process them only to provide Mizen to you. You can ask us for a copy of your data at any time.
Costs, prices and allergens
Mizen works out costs, suggested prices and allergens from the details you enter. It’s a tool to help you, so:
- check that your ingredient prices, amounts and allergen details are correct and up to date
- suggested prices are calculations, not business or financial advice, and what you charge is up to you
- you remain responsible for the allergen information you give your customers, as food law requires
Invoice scanning
Invoice scanning uses AI to read supplier invoices, and it can make mistakes. Check each line before you apply it.
Using Mizen fairly
Don’t use Mizen for anything unlawful, try to get into other people’s accounts or our systems, upload anything harmful, or resell access to Mizen. We may suspend or close an account that does.
Keeping Mizen running
We work hard to keep Mizen available and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will never be interrupted. We may change or improve features. If we remove something significant, we’ll tell you in advance.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, we’re not liable for indirect losses or for lost profits, revenue or business. Our total liability to you is limited to what you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim. [Check these limits.]
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time. What happens to your data afterwards is set out in our privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and email account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
